Behind the Scenes: Becoming a BASI Pilates Host Studio

Some changes happen quietly long before they become visible from the outside.

Becoming a BASI Pilates Host Studio is one of those changes. For our clients, it may first appear as a new announcement, a training weekend or a group of students arriving at the studio. Behind the scenes, however, it represents months of conversations, planning, organisation and reflection—and, for me personally, many years of learning and teaching.

From 1 November 2026, Breath, Balance & Bloom will officially become a BASI Pilates Host Studio. Our first BASI Comprehensive Teacher Training Course begins with Modules 1–3 on 27 November. It is a very special next chapter for our studio and one that I am incredibly proud to share.

Why BASI Pilates?

BASI stands for Body Arts and Science International. But for me, BASI has never been only a name or a certificate. It represents a way of teaching built on knowledge, precision, flow, integrity and respect for the individual body.

My own BASI journey has shaped how I teach, how I continue to learn and how I want people to experience Pilates at Breath, Balance & Bloom. The method asks us to understand not only what an exercise looks like, but why we choose it, how it connects to the complete Pilates system and how it can serve the person in front of us.

Becoming a Host Studio gives us the opportunity to bring this education to Langen and the wider Frankfurt area. Future teachers will no longer need to travel far away to complete an internationally recognised Comprehensive Pilates education. They can learn, practise and grow within a fully equipped local studio and become part of a wider Pilates community.

More than preparing a room

Hosting a teacher-training course involves much more than placing additional chairs in the studio.

The physical space must support both learning and movement. Every piece of equipment needs to be available, maintained and arranged so students can see demonstrations clearly and practise safely. The timetable has to accommodate the training modules while allowing our regular studio community to continue moving with us.

There are also many details that clients will never see: contracts, schedules, course information, communication with BASI Pilates Germany, student documents, safety procedures, equipment rules, cleaning standards and access arrangements.

We have developed clear structures for observation, Self Practice and Practice Teaching. We have considered when students can use the studio, how equipment is booked, how privacy is protected during regular classes and how we can create a professional learning environment without losing the warm, personal atmosphere that defines BBB.

Every small decision has the same purpose: to give students the support and structure they need while respecting our clients, our teachers and the studio itself.

Creating a place where students can really learn

A Pilates teacher is not created during course weekends alone.

The modules provide essential knowledge and guidance, but students also need time to observe experienced teachers, practise the repertoire in their own bodies and gradually learn how to teach others. This process requires consistency, curiosity and many hours spent refining the details.

As a Host Studio, we want to offer more than a location for the modules. We want to create a place where students feel welcome throughout their learning journey.

Students registered for the BBB-hosted Comprehensive course will have designated studio-access periods for their required Self Practice. They will also have opportunities to attend classes, observe teaching and arrange Practice Teaching sessions in accordance with their training level and our studio guidelines.

The structure matters, but so does the atmosphere. Learning to teach can feel exciting, intense and sometimes overwhelming. Students need space to ask questions, make mistakes, practise again and slowly develop their own voice as teachers. I want BBB to be a place where that process is taken seriously and where people still feel supported as individuals.

What Comprehensive training really means

The BASI Comprehensive programme teaches Pilates as a complete system. Students do not learn only Matwork or only the Reformer. Across 12 modules, they study Mat exercises alongside the major Pilates apparatus and learn to understand the relationships between them.

This is important because the apparatus is not simply a collection of separate machines. The Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, barrels and other pieces each offer different forms of support, resistance and feedback. Together, they give a teacher more ways to meet the needs of different bodies.

The course is therefore demanding. In addition to attending the modules, students complete observation, Self Practice and Practice Teaching hours before their final assessment. Becoming a confident teacher takes time—and it should. We are preparing people to work responsibly with real bodies, individual histories and different goals.

What this means for our clients

Becoming a Host Studio is not only about educating future teachers. It also strengthens the quality and learning culture within our entire studio.

Our regular clients may occasionally see students observing a class, always with prior permission and clear privacy rules. During training weekends, the studio schedule may look slightly different. We will communicate any changes early and keep disruption to regular classes as limited as possible.

In return, our community becomes part of something much larger. BBB will become a local meeting point for BASI students, experienced teachers and people who care deeply about high-quality Pilates education. It creates new opportunities for exchange, continuing education, workshops and collaboration.

Most importantly, it keeps learning at the centre of our studio. Pilates is a method with depth. None of us ever reaches a point where there is nothing more to discover.

A personal milestone

For me, this step is both professional and deeply personal. My own education has taken me through the full BASI Legacy Program, most recently to the new Honors Reunion in Italy in September 2026. Following the path shaped by Rael Isacowitz—and having the privilege of learning from him personally—has given me an even deeper appreciation for everything he has contributed to the Pilates world.

Becoming a BASI Host Studio is my way of helping to carry his life's work forward and contributing to the legacy he has built with so much passion, compassion and excellence.

Breath, Balance & Bloom was created as a place where people receive individual attention, develop a deeper understanding of movement and feel supported in their own bodies. Becoming a BASI Host Studio is a natural extension of that vision—and an opportunity to bring an even greater depth of education and quality to our studio.

It allows us to support not only the clients we teach today, but also the future teachers who will go on to guide and inspire many more people. That carries great responsibility, but it also brings me enormous joy.

I know how valuable excellent education, inspiring mentors and a supportive learning environment can be. I also know how much work takes place between the exciting training weekends: the hours of practice, the questions, the corrections and those special moments when an exercise or concept suddenly begins to make sense.

Being able to create that environment here in Langen—and to play a small part in carrying the BASI legacy into the future—feels incredibly meaningful. 🧡

Our first BASI Comprehensive course in Langen

The first BASI Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training Course hosted at Breath, Balance & Bloom will take place on the following dates:

Modules 1–3: 27–29 November 2026
Modules 4–6: 15–17 January 2027
Modules 7–9: 12–14 March 2027
Modules 10–12: 23–25 April 2027

Registration and payment take place directly through BASI Pilates Germany.
